Election Update 12/01/2011

EPA 2012 ELECTION PROCESS

FOR

SECTION CHIEF/REGION DELEGATE and REGION DELEGATE AT  LARGE 

 

In the winter of 2012 our Region will be electing two Section Chiefs/Region Delegates and a Region Delegate At Large.  The Section Chiefs/Region Delegates are for the Central and Pocono sections.  The Region Delegate At Large is for the entire EPA Region. The current Central Section Chief, Kurt Adam is eligible to seek re-election.  The current Pocono Section Chief, Dina Manoway is eligible to seek re-election.  The current Region Delegate At Large, George Hannon is eligible to seek re-election.

 

Who elects the Section Chief/Region Delegates?

 Section Chiefs/Region Delegates are elected by vote of the NSP Patrol Representatives within their Section.

Who elects the Region Delegate At Large?

The Region Delegate At Large is elected by vote of all the NSP Patrol Representatives in the EPA Region.

Following are the requirements for Section Chief/Region Delegate and Region Delegate At Large candidates.

Section Chief/Region Delegate and Region Delegate At Large candidates must be active registered patrollers in the Region, have a minimum of five seasons of patrolling experience, and have achieved Senior Alpine, Senior Nordic, or Certified status. Members currently registered as Patrollers (formerly Auxiliary Patrollers) are qualified to become Section Chief/Region Delegate and Region Delegate At Large candidates if they have met the requirements described above at some point in their patrol career.

 

The schedule for the Section Chief/Region Delegate and Region Delegate At Large election process is as follows.

On January 20, 2012 Nomination forms will be sent to the NSP Patrol Representatives and Sections Chiefs/Region Delegates in the Central and Pocono sections.  Also Nomination forms for Region Delegate At Large will be sent to all NSP Patrol Representatives in the EPA Region. The NSP Patrol Representatives, Section Chief’s or a candidate may use the form to nominate a qualified candidate for election to the position and submit the form to the Election Chairperson. The candidate must indicate his/her acceptance of the nomination by submitting a platform and resume to the Election Chairperson by February 13, 2012.

On March 5, 2012 the Chairperson will send ballots, platforms, resumes, and a return envelope with postage to all the Patrol Representatives in the EPA Region with the appropriate ballot or ballots required to vote.  Patrol Representatives must vote and return the ballot to the Election Chairperson by March 19, 2012.

On March 26, 2012 ballots will be counted and the results announced on the EPA website.

The elected Section Chiefs/Region Delegates and Region Delegate At Large will take office at the EPA Region Spring Meeting on April 14, 2012.
