This is a photo of two former student patrollers from Ski Roundtop Ski Patrol in Pennsylvania - you may remember us as the National Outstanding Ski Patrol for 2000 :-).

On the left is James Corrin, class of 2011, from Mechanicsburg, PA in his first year at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis.

On the right is Trevor Galuardi, class of 2010, from Owings Mills, MD in his second year at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

The photo was taken at the 2007 Army-Navy game (or as some of us call it, the Navy-Army game) where they took time out from cheering for their respective teams, to have a mini-reunion (PS - Jim’s team won the game).

Ski Roundtop Ski Patrol is very proud of these young men and we fondly remember their dedication to our patrol and their desire to enter their respective Academy.

Please join the members of Ski Roundtop Ski Patrol (many of whom are proud veterans) as we wish them well in their upcoming careers in military service and thank them for their service and their sacrifice for our country.

Let’s all keep them in our thoughts and say a little prayer to keep them safe and out of harm’s way.

Whitetail Ski Resort: A dedication service was held February 12, 2005 to name a connecting run at Whitetail in memory of Bob Small. Bob, a long time patroller at Whitetail who passed away in 2003, was remembered in an article by Mark Clem in the 2003 - 2004 issue of the Regional. The dedication included readings of memories and thoughts of Bob by Wayne Eckelman, Mark Clem and Joel Eckelman. It was concluded by the traditional running of an empty toboggan down the run.

June 21, 2004 - Ed Hirshman

The southwest Sections own Ed Hirshman has retired as Awards Advisor for our EPA Region. We all owe Eddie heartfelt Thanks for the recognition he has brought to our Region Patrols and Patrollers. He has spent countless hours working for us, promoting our patrol and individual patroller’s efforts with Division and National. We were all fortunate to have Eddie working for us! By the way, Ed has been appointed by National as an OEC Supervisor in the Eastern Division assisting Southern NY, Western App, and EPA Regions. Good luck in your new endeavors, Ed.

August 01, 2004 - Crab Feast

Bob Scarlett is hosting a SW Sections Crab feast August 1st at Gibson Island on the Chesapeake Bay. If anyone is interested in attending, let your PD or Section Chief know so we have enough crabs and other food. The cost will be determined by the cost of crabs at that time. This is a great time together and have some fun on the bay. Plan to attend!

Ski Roundtop is have their Summer awards picnic on Saturday July 24th. For details contact Greg Wasson.
